MANGO APPOINTS FIRST GM, ADDS TWO CONSULTANTS

After a fast start to 2013 with a number of new business wins, Mango announces the promotion of Bob Glancy to General Manager and the appointment of two new team members.

Joining Mango in 2011 as Group Account Director, Bob is Mango’s first General Manager since it launched in 2000 and will support founder and Managing Director Claudia Macdonald in running the PR and Experiential business.

Bob is a seasoned PR practitioner with more than 15 years’ PR and marketing communications experience gained in both the UK and NZ, including Xerox and Barclays Bank in the UK, and Xbox and Motorola in New Zealand.

Kate Carter joins Mango as Senior Account Director.  Originally from the UK, Kate has extensive consumer and corporate PR experience. She joins after six years at the Raynish Group Auckland where she held a leadership role managing a team across a range of blue chip clients.

Eleisha Balmer comes on board as Senior Account Manager.  A savvy fashion marketer, Eleisha has four years’ experience in marketing and brand management at Ruby Apparel, where she tailored her skills in public relations and implementation of marketing strategies.

Claudia Macdonald, Managing Director of Mango, says that the appointments of Kate and Eleisha are a real coup.

“They are both fantastically experienced and passionate PR professionals who will work wonderfully with our broad range of clients.

“In addition, Bob’s new role will help us grow the business and capitalise on the great start to 2013.  It’s going to be an exciting year and we’re really fortunate to have such a sterling team.”

  3. Ego - One of two mobile apps in this round-up, Ego gives you a snapshot of all your web property analytics wherever you are. Super handy!
  4. Nod3x - This tool is still in beta stage but you can still get an idea of its incredible capabilities and usefulness. Eventually, this looks like it will be a must-have for all enterprises who take real-time monitoring and influencer relations seriously.
  5. Recce App - 3D mapping is something you will hear a lot about over the next 12 months and Recce is likely to be at the forefront of those discussions thanks to its beautiful interface and real-time travel information features. The London version is available now with additional cities set to be announced soon.

Mango Auckland brought netball fans closer to their on-court heroes as part of the ANZ Championship 2011. Netball supporters were driven to register at anznetball.co.nz where they went in the draw to win the Grand Prize; an amazing afternoon with netball stars from their regional team. Mango Auckland Launches Second Annual Grant’s Corner to Corner Bowls Tournament

Mango was at the helm of the second annual Grant’s Whisky Corner to Corner Bowls Tournament, involving 151 lawn bowl clubs around the country. To get tongues wagging in the lead up to the competition Mango got the media excited about the return of the tournament, and held a quick fire curtain-raiser game with New Zealand celebrities from popular television shows Almighty Johnsons, Go Girls and Shortland Street. The celebrity winner on the day was actor Paul Ellis who won $2,000 for the NZ Aids Foundation.

Mango Races all Day and Rocks all Night at NZ’s Biggest Sporting Event

New Zealand’s largest annual sporting event, the ITM400 Hamilton V8 Supercar Championship, was a wet, wild, rock ‘n roll weekend this year as over 105,000 fans took to the street race circuit in Hamilton.

Mango managed all off-track PR with driver appearances, signing sessions, charitable alignment, VIP guests and the added element of top tier bands ZZ Top and Good Charlotte rocking the stage following racing. 

Kiwi driver Shane van Gisbergen battled the extreme conditions to take out the top podium spot – a terrific result!

A completely unique challenge was devised whereby four of New Zealand’s most creative talent won the chance to stage the event of their dreams with a little help from their friends at Smirnoff and Mango.

Each event allows a certain allocation of guests who register on the Smirnoff Night Project Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/smirnoffnz the chance to attend one of these awe-inspiring events. Smirnoff’s especially designed Facebook application for ticket requests has been so overwhelmed with demand that on one occasion the application crashed from all the excitement! Mango Auckland gave budding Kiwi creatives the chance to plan, pitch and activate their dream event – what a night!
